It seems that if a woman has a relationship with a man who enjoys the spotlight, she gets many benefits but the problem is that if the relationship ends, so do the benefits. The newest way, it seems, to keep enjoying the benefits of being associated with a famous rapper or athlete is to join forces with other women in your same position and star in a reality show.
The newest reality show to pop up is one starring the former partners of rappers DMX and 50 cent. The executives at TLC must have seen some potential for on screen success because they have signed on to launch ‘Starter Wives’, which will focus on women who claim to have “supported their former husbands/boyfriends before the fame and wealth made them the men they are today”.
Shaniqua Tompkins, the mother of 50 cent’s son, Marquise, and Dmx’s soon to be ex-wife wife, Tashera Simmons, will be among the stars of the new show. Joining them, will be the former partners of boxer, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and basketball player Lamar Odom. Lamar is already enjoying plenty of reality television on screen time with his wife, Khloe Kardashian.
The reality show is expected to begin filming before the end of October and is scheduled to premier at the beginning of 2013.
