Retrial In Child Custody Battle Denied For Usher’s Ex-Wife
According to TMZ, Tameka Foster-Raymond was denied a retrial in her child custody battle with her ex-husband Usher. But, sources say Foster-Raymond is not giving up. She plans to appeal the judge’s ruling. Foster filed documents earlier this month appealing a ruling that granted Usher primary custody because she felt the judge was biased because she received campaign money from Usher’s lawyer.
Foster-Raymond’s legal team submitted a motion for a new trial in a Fulton County court in Georgia. The court documents contained evidence that could possibly prove corruption at the state judicial level. Foster-Raymond’s legal team has uncovered evidence that shows Usher Raymond’s attorney, John Mayoue, did more than just help Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane raise funds for her campaign re-election. The law firm that represented Usher held a fundraiser for Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane in 2008 that raised $1,278. The money raised was nearly half of the contributions to the judge’s re-election campaign in 2008. Tameka alleges Usher’s lawyer served on the judge’s re-election campaign committee.
Usher Raymond filed his own response asking the court to deny Tameka’s request, claiming her motion is “an assault on the integrity of the court.” Usher claims if Foster-Raymond were granted a new trial, it would be grounds for a reversal of ALL trials where a lawyer had contributed to a judge’s campaign. Usher claims the motion “constitutes a continuum of [Tameka's] vile and unsupported claims that every person who dared testify against her … is biased and tainted.” A judge has yet to rule on the matter.
