Usher and Shakira To Coach Talent On NBC’s “The Voice”
NBC’s reality hit show “The Voice” has just spiced up its upcoming spring season by bringing on R&B superstar Usher Raymond and Latin singer Shakira as coaches. The duo are slated to replace Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera, who are expected to return to the show next fall.
“Doing two back-to-back cycles of this show requires a tremendous amount of time, and we are happy to accommodate the commitments made by Christina and Cee Lo,” chairman of NBC Entertainment Robert Greenblatt said in a statement. “The participants on our show benefit from our coaches’ expertise and their continued success in the music business allows for significant new contributions to the contestants when they return.” So, as Green and Aguilera focus on life outside of the show, Shakira and Usher are filling in.
Usher has been a busy man. After being awarded full custody of his toddler sons, he sat down with Oprah Winfrey on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” to discuss his failed marriage, his relationship with his mother, and so many more obstacles that have challenged him over the years. Concluding the interview, Usher’s mother/former manager joined her son and Oprah to address the tough issues regarding her son’s decisions with his marriage and his career. Both Usher and his mother revealed this is the first time they have publicly spoken about the aforementioned situations. Read more about the hour-long interview by clicking here.
