Rohan Marley: Wyclef Jean Is ‘Saying False Things To Get Book Headlines’

As recently reported, Wyclef Jean released his autobiography titled Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story, claimed that the initial crack that broke up The Fugees began when Lauryn made him believe that her first born son was his, when it was actually Rohan Marley’s (son of Bob Marley). Wyclef writes, “In that moment something died between us. I was married and Lauryn and I were having an affair, but she led me to believe that the baby was mine, and I couldn’t forgive that.” He continues by adding, “She could not longer be my muse. Our love spell was broken.”

The father of Hill’s son, Rohan Marley, is speaking out against Jean’s accusations of being mislead about Hill’s pregnancy.  Marley, who dated Hill from 1996-2004, told reporters that Jean “knew from jump that was my son from the day [Lauryn] was pregnant.” Marley admits knowing that Hill and Jean were sleeping together, but says he was confident that ended because Jean hooked them up. ”They were definitely not messing around, or he would never have given me the okay,” Marley said. Marley continued to say that there was no way Hill could’ve had time to be intimate with Jean because she spent a plethora of time with him in studio sessions from day to night. Marley added he thinks Jean is “just saying false things to get book headlines” — and he has no plans to talk it out with Jean because “he knows he is fronting himself.”

Jean responded to Marley’s accusations saying, “There is no way that I would have shown up in the hospital in that circumstance to wait for a baby to be born if it was not mine. The idea of a memoir is to tell the truth. I know that often the truth hurts, but a lie hurts even more.”
