Beyonce and Jay-Z (Mr. and Mrs Carter) recently held a fundraiser to do their part in helping President Obama get reelected. The event was a wild success and President Obama was in attendance. They raised $4 million.
Attendees paid as much as $40,000 per ticket to see the President and bump elbows with about 100 of New York’s elite.
In his speech, the president thanked his hosts saying,
“To J and B, thank you so much for your friendship.”
Obama then went on to praise Beyonce saying,
“Beyoncé could not be a better role model for my girls because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent.”
Mrs. Carter has been very visibly supporting the Obamas, publishing an open letter to First Lady Michelle Obama on her personal blog and then going on to read the letter on an Obama campaign video.
Speaking about Jay-Z-“Mr. Carter”-the president said,
“We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard but it’s OK.”
Since President Obama started campaigning for the presidency, Jay-Z has supported him, even teaming up with his wife, Beyonce, to put on a show in a tribute concert, the night before the President’s inauguration. Recently, President Obama has also did a video introduction of Jay-Z at J’s Made In America music festival.
