Jasmine Guy Hits Ex-Husband For Back Child Support Payments

Famed “Different World” star, Jasmine Guy, is suing her ex-husband, Terrence Mitchell Duckett, for $39,663 in back child support. According to TMZ, Guy filed legal docs in L.A. County Superior Court recently. Duckett was ordered by a judge to pay $1,469/month in child support for the couple’s daughter when the couple divorced in 2008. In the documents, Guy claims Duckett hasn’t paid child support since 2010. Guy is seeking to hold her ex in contempt of court so that she can collect on the debt by garnishing his wages, going after his assets, or even having him thrown in jail.

Guy’s lawyer, Lisa West, tells TMZ, “Both parents have the financial responsibility of rearing a child. Jasmine has always met and will continue to meet her financial responsibility. She, however unfortunately, finds herself in the same position as are many single mothers in this country — she must enforce her child’s right to benefit from the financial assets of both parents.”

A hearing on the matter was scheduled for last month, but was cancelled because Jasmine was unable to serve her ex with the papers. Sources close to Jasmine tell TMZ the actress is still attempting to serve the papers, so the hearing can be rescheduled.

Last year, American Express sued Guy  for $86,241.03 in unpaid credit card debt, and associated expenses such as attorney’s fees, delinquency costs and interest. The court documents said Guy “has received the monthly [billing] statements without protest, and has not advised American Express that such statements were in error in any respect.”
