Good Samaritan Made Up Kidnapping Story

Police in Lilburn, Georgia have reason to believe that a woman  who claims to have saved a 3 year old boy from an attempted kidnapping  made up the story.

After speaking to the little boy’s father, Josh Evans, local news outlets are reporting that the little boy was not far from his father while his father was browsing for pants in the store.  Said Evans,

“I was about 10 feet away from Erik. He was in the toy area. He was the only kid in that area. I was looking at the pants, I had my back turned and then a customer came over to me and asked me if it was my son and I said, ‘Yes.’ She said that I needed to get my child.”

After hearing a witness account, police reportedly released a surveillance video that showed a man wearing a green shirt. The man in the green shirt was believed to be the kidnapper.

According to the police, the woman who claims to have saved the boy from the kidnapping said that she grabbed the boy when she saw the kidnapper try to s****h him.

Upon being questioned again the woman, who was now being referred to as the good Samaritan, took back her story and confessed to making it all up. The man who the woman claimed tried to kidnap the boy actually never touched him.

In a news release, Lilburn police Capt. Ben Hayes said,

“She stated she fabricated the story because she was upset the child’s parents let him look at the toys by himself and were not watching him.”

The woman, Pamela Ann Strong,  was arrested on Monday and charged with false report of a crime.

Said Hayes,

“This is a serious offense. The department spent several man hours trying to locate this suspect. The department takes these types of reports extremely serious and when this was initially reported other investigations were dropped to focus on this one. To later find out this was a fabricated story is extremely disappointing.”
