Asa Lovechild: Boyz II Men Singer Speaks about the NFL Lockout?

Unless you have been under a rock, you have heard about the huge ill mannered call in the Packers verses Seahawks game on Monday night. If you were able to catch it live, you are probably still having withdrawals.  Even the celebrities are weighing in on the referee fiasco of the NFL. Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman has been very vocal about the bad call heard around the world. Stockman states that Aaron Rogers , “got robbed. It’s horrible. They really need to do something about these officials. It’s ridiculous. It’s really bad now.” Stockman, Aaron Rodgers’s betting buddy says, “these are gonna be crucial games that these really inexperienced officials are going to have to regulate.”

Okay for those of you who are not football fans, this is a huge deal! Let’s get you up to speed. It all started with the NFL wanting to change the NFLRA’s (National Football League Referee Association) pension from their current pension plan to a 401k back in June, among other things. So instead of giving the refs what they deserve and want, they locked them out and choose to go with less qualified refs.

Well it came back to haunt them. But it was not the Packers verses Seahawks that started really raising eyebrows. It may have started with the bad calls by the lower-level college league refs in week 1 at the 49ers verses Packers game.

But this last week’s bad call, may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back, as not only Stockman, but Obama chimed in with concern. Now you know it’s bad when politicians take the time out to chime in. According to Press Secretary Jay Carney, the Pres thought “there was a real problem with the call”. Social media is burning a hole through cyberspace over the unfair treatment of the regular refs.  NFL Commissioner Robert Goodall has managed to make a complete mockery of the league, by being hardnosed with the NFLRA.

ESPN’s Chris Mortenson is reporting that the National Football League has reached an agreement and that the refs could be back to work as soon as this weekend.  The NFL and refs  agreed to create a “developmental program” to train an additional 21 refs.  It seems like the NFL is trying to pacify the referees, still continuing to hold them at bay, when the solution is to leave well enough alone, let them keep their current plan, and throw the 401k talk out of play pronto!

Our beloved referees back to business by the weekend?  Don’t hold your breath!
