My Ten Sense: Shame on Montel Williams for endorcing “bad credit loans”
Montel Williams received noteriety for his late 1980s tour, Mountain Get Out of My Way, that motivated teenagers to overcome obstacles, and he was rewarded with his own talk show, The Montel Williams Show, that ran from 1991 to 2008.
But now Montel is contributing to the demise of so many Americans by endorsing “bad credit loans” from Money Mutual in which consumers can borrow as much as $1,000 as long as they have a job making at least $800 a month. These short-term loans are also known as payday loans or cash advances. These are the worse loans you can possibly get, and Williams should be ashamed of himself for promoting them.
Next to the former talk show host’s face, Money Mutual ads state:

Add Doug Banks, DeeDee and Rudy to the list. The Diyg Banks Show promotes these payday loans every hour. It’s disgusting and predatory. I know all too well how these loans can ruin a persons credit an livelihood. Promoting these loans sets our community back and keeps us in debt and poverty. Give people education and resources on how to live within their means, not be motivated by materialism and how to set an reach realistic financial goals. These lenders charge 400% interest, sell your private information to other countries and fraudulent companies, as well as harass you. Shame on the Montel and Doug Banks for selling out themselves AND the Black community!
That’s Montel Williams. He will sell anything from his homemade veggie juice to a bridge in Brooklyn. Anything for a dollar. You would also be surprised as to how many people get these payday loans. Anyway, I guess this is how he makes a living now. He and his family have to eat.

As for feeding his family; one would think that he made a decent salary during all of the years that he had his own show.
