Kobe Bryant’s Wife Wants it Known She is Not a Gold Digger
Vanessa Bryant is going to be more careful about what she says when she is being interviewed. The wife of the NBA basketball player, Kobe Bryant, got a lot of negative feedback after she made some comments in an interview with New York magazine. The interview was about the wives of NBA stars.
In the interview, Bryant said,
“I certainly would not want to be married to somebody that can’t win championships. If you’re sacrificing time away from my family and myself for the benefit of winning championships, then winning a championship should happen every single year.”
No sooner had Bryant made the comments, the media was buzzing with many being offended by her comments and some even calling her a gold digger. The negative feedback was so significant that it led to Bryant, who does not usually speak out to the public, to release a statement.
In her statement to TMZ, Bryant said:
“I’m sad to hear that comments in my New York Magazine interview are being misconstrued and taken out of context. I have and will continue to support my husband’s dreams. I have been with Kobe for 13 years. I accepted his marriage proposal PRIOR to him winning any of his 5 championships with his teammates.
For anyone to think otherwise is wrong. It is not about being married to a ‘winner’ it is about our sacrifice as a family.”
An online magazine, necolebitchie.com, has confirmed her statement that she accepted Kobe’s proposal before he was an NBA champion-Kobe proposed to Vanessa just one month before he won his first NBA Championship in 2000.
At the end of last year, Vanessa filed for divorce but her and Kobe have since decided to work out their differences.
