Fresh Off New Contract, Terrell Owens’ Baby Mamas Line Up for their Cut
It doesn’t take long for the financial vultures to start pouring in after you sign an NFL contract. Terrell Owens is now being told to pay up on back child support after signing a new deal with the Seattle Seahawks. One of the mothers of his children has been fighting back against TO’s request for reduced child support after his substantial decline in income.
Owens owes money to four different women, and was hurting for cash for a while. Now that he’s signed a deal with the Seahawks reportedly worth $1 million, the mothers are lining up for their share of the dough.
One of the women, Melanie Paige Smith, has filed court papers asking the judge to dismiss Owen’s request for a reduction.
Randall Kessler, Melanie’s attorney says, “It is clear that a downward modification of [T.O.'s] child support obligation is not warranted.”
According to Melanie, T.O. received $7,000,000 playing for the Cowboys in 2007, signed a $13,000,000 contract with the Cowboys in 2008, signed a $6,500,000 with the Buffalo Bills in 2009, and signed a $2,000,000 deal with the Bengals in 2010.
Funny how certain baby’s mothers can precisely calculate exactly how much money you have. Maybe Terrell should pick a better class of women.

No, that’s not just you. He needs to petition the courts to have the mother of these children to give him an detailed itemized report of where his children’s money is spent monthly. The women also need to account for the remaining money and where it is. He also needs to tell the courts to set aside, out of the same child support payments, money for the children’s college.
Example: He pays $4,000.00 monthly the itemized report is due at the end of each month to the courts, which is to be given to Mr. Owens. Detailed Report: Children’s Clothes – $500.00, Children’s Food – $500.00, Children’s Entertainment – $400.00. Remaining Money – College Fund for children. Store receipts also need to be acommpanied with this detailed report
The report should also include the account number to the College Fund – for integrity purposes, and itemized actual receipts to demonstrate with reference numbers for any medications and other medical needs of the children for integrity purposes.
If the reports and all instructions in giving it to the courts are not followed, then there is to be a penalty in child support reduction to be paid to the parent, and the money reduced is to be gathered into a special trust for the children, until the children are age 25 years-old. The reduction penalties should stop at $2,000.00 and fines should be the next step to the woman who does not fully comply with court mandates. This is the way Child Support should be treated.
Wilwood and Nedrea, I like your plan for financial accountability. But do not forget that financial responsibility for a child does not only include clothing and medical needs.
Kids also need a roof over their heads, food, heat, electricity, furniture, and participation in extra-curricular activities. All of which need to be paid for. I believe a study was just completed about how much it costs to raise a child. And it just went up from $1 million to like $1.3 million or some amount in that area. And that’s not for anything special like private school or vacations in Aruba. These figures reflect everyday, average needs. So while he’s paying $1000 per kid per month, don’t forget that Mom is picking up the rest of the expenses.
My daughter’s father was ordered to pay roughly $400 a month. I paid 3 times that just for rent! That’s before we ate, had lights or food.
So I agree their needs to be accountability to ensure Mom is not abusing the money. But let’s remember that a child’s expenses cover a wide area that sometimes can’t be quantified with receipts.
That’s why Mom has a job as well. Father is not the only person who has financial responsibility. The Mother can handle the rent and other costs. Too many behave as if the Father is the complete soul provider, and he is not.

Staying up nights when baby is ill? Explaining why father/mother is never at any of the child’s events? Being a perpetual taxicab? Constant counselor? Cook? Priceless. The point is always missed if it’s just about the amount of money a non-custodial “parent” is contributing.
I declare most of these people hate children and stating that a child doesn’t deserve to have the best life possible is barbaric. One person said it’s not as though they are royalty. Shouldn’t they be considered precious princes and princesses?
I feel nothing for Terrell or the women in this, however, the children are everything.

These women act as if having a baby by a once wealthy athletic means they hit the lottery and not only should their child be taken care of but them as well. I don’t think you should have children just to live off them BUT, until the last few decades it was understood and expected that the woman took care of the kids and the man supported and protected them all. I don’t have any children and have worked since high school and always plan to, but I think that people get a little too bent out of shape about something that used to be the norm. If you those kids AND thier mother were living with him they’d be in a BMW in a gates community. Why does he get to live his life and leave them behind to struggle?
I keep reading how the mothers should be taking care of themselves and the children and I’m puzzled at that considering that first, child support is based on BOTH parents incomes, not one. Also, the custodial parent has to provide everything else that matters, like cooking, help with homework, being present in every day life for children matters equally, if not MORE importantly than money. Child support amounts don’t remove the responsibility the custodial parent has. If the mother/father makes more money, their child support payments are larger and just because sometimes the amounts can support the custodial parents household, doesn’t remove the RIGHT to pay it.

My mother is an attorney in Illinois and a partner in a Family law practice and she tells me this the most discombobulated system in our bureaucracy. In most states, child support is calculated from both parents income, but since these ladies ( except one) do not have any income, it all gets dumped of the non-custodial parent. Now, if Owens had gone to court without a job, the court will give him a certain amount of time to find a job, and they would reduce his support according to the state guidelines. The inequity in the system is that the same court did not mandate that these women get a job to help support their child. My mom says she tells women all the time that come to her crying that if you were not his wife, you do not have much power. So ladies,since they were not married to T.O., why jdo feel that they should be paid Spousal support? most states do not mand
correction. most states do not mandate spousal support anyway, So how does their financial obligation to help out in the household cease? In most states its adjusted to about a 60-40 split non-custodial to custodial.
And mandee, these ladies are not contributing any finances to the household. Read Texas support guidelines and see if he suppose to pay spousal support to someone he was not MARRIED to. T.I, 50 cent and P diddy all got theirs reduced significantly because judges in New York and Georgia are applying the guidelines correctly. If you were not married, you don’t get SPOUSAL SUPPORT!!!! Now to all the women who don’t get help( and I know many), I can feel for them. They work hard on jobs they hate to make it happen. But to not work is not an option for these ladies and he should get a good lawyer to make sure that his rights are protected. They gotta work!!
To save my life I don’t understand these professional Black male athletes, with all these “baby mama” the drama and most importantly the money they have to shell not until these kids turn 18 years old. one child @ $5000 a month x12= $60.000 a yr,
with the total of 4 childs thats $240,000 a yr
over a span of 18 yrs Mr. Owens would have payed out for child support roughly $4.5 MILLIONS.
Some of you may recall this story of a man that has somthing like 15-18 children making minimum wage but the court has him paying child support, each “baby mama” recieves a check the amount no more than $1.00. Lets see the cost of a envelope, the stamp and the ink and paper to print the check and unless the check is deposit into a account there is a fee to cash the check.
Well I guess my point is this, MEN unless you are ready to become a father and ladies until you are ready to make a family STOP IT!!!!!!!!!
What these baby mommas don’t realize is that T.O.’s contract is not guaranteed. The Seahawks could cut him tomorrow and T.O. would not receive anything close to $1 million dollars.
there are consequences for everything we do—-both positive and negative. We are the masters of our fate. If you do not want the responsibility of fatherhood and all that it entails, then you do not leave that decision for anyone else to make. You will do whatever is necessary to insure no unwanted seeds being planted. Once a seed is planted, the father is responsible for the well being of that child no matter what kind of woman he has slept with. Maybe, he should be more selective in the type of women he sleeps with. So, if he had more discipline, and taken whole of his financial future using the head on his shoulders instead of his thinkless head then he would not be in the position he is in now. Remember, no one made him sleep with any of these women.
I’m sorry what child needs 17% of 1,000,000 dollars to be adequately provided for financially?! $170k can adequately provide for all 4 of his children! These mothers who stand to receive such an exorbant amount of money need to be required to attend classes for financial planning and management at the very least! Man, I can’t wait to finish law school as this is utterly ridiculous.
Furthermore it doesn’t matter WHO he had a child with as the law states the percentage. The percentage to be paid is not based upon the “class” or “quality” of woman.
I love how these comments center around “these women” and their “type”. Fact of the matter is this, he laid with the women, impregnated them, and now has to pay the cost. Just like every other father professional football player or not. As another user posted, upwards of $1M to raise a child. Regardless if they “tricked” him into it (which is nonsense he’s grown and well knows how reproduction occurs) or did it on purpose there is a child there now. That these women have to take ultimte responsibility for so OF COURSE they should get child support if he is not contributing to a shared household. The type of women? The law says his children are entitled to live in the same manner in which he’s accustomed, if T.O. doesn’t want that to be the case going forward then two words, “cover up!” He claimed when he was on Dr. Phil that he didn’t have a Relationship with any of the mothers which would have been even more of a reason to cover up. He better figure out something else and quick because $1,000,000 is nothing and if that’s all he’s being offered then his ball career is pretty much done. Once Uncle Sam gets his slice and you divvy the rest up between 5 people (T.O. plus 4 children) and God knows who else or what else, dude is in trouble! The studs in his ears probably run about $200K. I suggest he sells those and satisfy his babies momma’s for ONE MONTH! (LOL)

Don’t blame T.O as if you have never made mistakes in your life. The man doesn’t need to be a victim of baby mama drama and welfare mentality. These women should also be held responsible for opening their legs without regards for consequencies. In my view the only children who should receive child support should be from divorced parents.

He will still have to need some reduction of some sort because he’s still not making the same money he previously made.
