Video: Trayvon Martin dead. Am I next?

In this video I discuss how the Trayvon Martin killing highlights a real issue that black people and especially black men face on a daily basis: being killed for just doing what we’re supposed to do. In 2012, some people still believe that we don’t belong in certain neighborhoods, cars, or places of employment and, unlike other racial groups, it can really cost us our lives. I wish people would not minimize this all too real experience for us.

  1. MARCH 17 2012

WHEN are Black men and Latino men going to do something about their being shot by Police and fly-by shootings?
U talk and sometimes march in protest for what?

  2. What do you suggest we do?

    • A while ago a network news guy asked white people how much they would want to be compensated if their race had to be changed from white to black. All wanted LOTS of money; at least one answered “a million dollars.” Unconsciously white people know that what this young man says is true, and that’s why they would want to be compensated. Consciously, though, they do not want to deal with the terrible, unjust, and unAmerican situation that our White Male Privilege System does every day to Black Americans and other people of color.

  3. Is it not true that the greatest threat to black American men is from other black American men? We hear screams and wailing and protests only on the rare occasion that a black man has been killed by a non-black man. But what do we hear when the more common event of a black man being killed by another black man happens? Nowhere near the kind of coverage we have for Trayvon. Does anyone remember Bobby Tillman? Like it or not, MOST of the killings of black American men are not happening at the hands of white people. If we can’t rectify this terrifying state, what respect can be earned?

  4. No one is talking about Black on Black crime in this particular subject. We are well aware of the high rate of Black males killing each other, however, it is still apples and oranges. Jews killed other Jew in Europe before, during and after the Holocaust, however, Jews killing Jews and the Jewish Holocaust are apples and oranges.

What is being discussed right now is what happened to Trayvon Martin, i.e. another systematic Lynching of a Black male in America.

What happened to Trayvon Martin is one more to add to the numbers of Black males that have been Lynched in this country. There is nothing about what happened with Trayvon that is not the same familiar scenario of most of the Lynchings of Black men that have taken place in America. The only thing we can say Zimmerman (Jewish name) did not do that the KKK, racist Whites, southern racists were doing before the Civil Rights Movement and during jim crow era South, was that Zimmerman did not hid his face behind a sheet, Zimmerman did not come to the Martin home in the middle of the night and set there home on fire while they slept, and after shooting Trayvon, Zimmerman did not hang is body from tree.

We cannot be expected to dismiss or ignore what happened to this child because there are Black males that also kill other Black males. One thing’s for sure however, within the many reasons the Black males may have for killing other Black males, merely because he was Black is not one of them, neither is merely because he just wanted to kill another human being because he is a sociopath or psychopath and figures that the most likely person he can kill and claim self-defense, therefore, get away with cold blooded murder, would be a Black male.

I hope that Trayvon’s parents get Justice in this matter, it is obviously pre-meditated cold blooded murder in the first degree. This freak jumped out of his car AFTER being told to stay in his car by the police, he Confronted this child with a gun, this child ran from him screaming “HELP, HELP”, and Zimmerman CHASED after him, through other people yards, as they themselves called the police, they wound up at on person back porch or back door with Trayvon still yelling, “HELP, HELP”, until Zimmerman shot this child in the chest, evidently at point-blank range.

So, hell NO! we are not going to just dismiss what happened to Trayvon Martin, because there also happens to be Black males who kill other Black males. We want to end any Black on Black crime in America, and we ALSO want to put an end to
people’s/racists’ arbitrary Lynching of Black males in America without consequences.

    • Gigi:

What happened to Trayvon Martin is tragic and Zimmerman should be held accountable. But please stop playing the race card and accept facts that your young black men are causing the problems that get them shot. Far to often they are the aggressive party; they resist rule of law and basically paint the bulls-eye on their own chest. Have you been out past 10pm on a weekend lately? Living here in Houston, you see racial stereotypes become reality. Truth is what it is….

Considering most violent crimes against whites are committed by non-whites, I am interested to know your recommendation to help whites protect themselves from black/Hispanic attacks? The black nation jumps on every single white-on-black crime, but why dont you join in when a man of color commits a crime (Maybe too many to keep up with?). Always an excuse. Too many times I read, “Well it really wasnt the young black man’s fault; it was the result of years of white man rule and racism that led him down that path”. Accept responsibility for the failings of your your own as you judge the whites as a whole.

    • Trayvon’s death is a tragedy. But at this point, unless the evidence changes, George Zimmerman is the only person for
whom the term “lynching” might apply.

To claim Trayvon was lynched when the evidence says Zimmerman was defending himself is unfair. And with that evidence, all the “lynching”, racism, stalking, murder, etc.
      charges are also unfair.

Let the evidence play out fully then make your decision.

  5. Please go to Change.org and sign the Petition, “Charge Trayvon Martin’s Killer”, and any other petition that you see for Trayvon, so that we can keep this case on the forefront in the media and so that the Florida State Attorney’s office will be flooded with emails and a petition with thousand of signers.

  6. In addition to what @Gigi is saying, many of us spend our days and nights and lives trying to stop black on black crime. Just because it doesn’t make it to the news doesn’t mean we stopped fighting to make it stop and it doesn’t mean we should sit and just watch cases like these happen.

  7. Thanks for some other informative web site. The place else could I am getting that kind of info written in such a perfect manner? I have a mission that I am simply now operating on, and I have been on the glance out for such information.

  8. MAR 18 2012

START policing Our own neighbors! The Jews have been doing it for years. Police is their 2nd out look.
STOP having Our children being mentored or going to activities that are sponsered by the police.
STOP having them becoming INFORMERS tIF they are INFORMERS find out for yourselves IF their info is legit before going too police.
If they’re in trouble have somebody(s) they can trust and know the laws of their State to go to OR call before going to police.
TO ME what we have been doing is NOT working cooperating with the Law. If it did Our Children wouldn’t still be shot down in the streets or bathrooms.

  9. It always seems that someone accuses someone of playing the race card when the person making that accusation looks like the race that doesn’t want to look in the mirror….just my flow…

  10. The sad then about the physical assassination of the young brother Trayvon Martin disguises the years of killing the spirits of our People, both male and female by providing inferior education, poor health care and barriers to employment opportunities that has transcended into a self hate among our selves. Not trying to minimize the murder of the young brother, but asking that a deeper look within ourselves be done. Peace.
