Group Sues Michelle Obama Over Vacation Records
First lady Michelle Obama is being sued by the group, “Judicial Watch.” The conservative group is demanding access to all records related to an August 2010 vacation taken by Mrs. Obama and her daughters, Sasha and Malia. The group filed suit in the United States District Court to get access to all records on cost estimates and passenger manifests.
“Evidently, American taxpayers were stuck with a sizable bill so Mrs. Obama could tour around Spain with her family and friends, This administration, as a supposed steward of taxpayer dollars, has an obligation to disclose the full costs of the Obama family’s luxury trip,” said Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton in a statement.
The Obama Administration is saying that the vacation was paid for out of the personal funds of the Obama family. They did say that security and other costs are typically paid for by the taxpayer.
What the h**l???? Does these people ever quit? I don’t recall the Bush’s family ever having to give up all of their expense information when traveling. This is horrible. Now this is a waste of money and the US District Court isn’t any better.

I was raised in a small town in Southeast Kansas during the time when the Klan still had meetings by a old creek bed. My great grandmother, the Maitrach of the family. She told me as a young teen, that bigotry and prejudice would still have a strong hold on America when I became a adult, it would just “dress” differently. And I have lived to witness that predication to come true. I almost can’t believe that America would be so cruel to our President, and his family simply because of the color of their skin. But I’m reminded of another influence in my life Dr. Maya Angelou who stated that “No one is more human than the President or his family” they may posses more money or be more mean spirited but never “More human”.

The same privileges that were allowed to a white president and his family, as it be told appears not to be granted to the black president and his family. People need to QUIT! The common decency should be extended to the President and his family. I tell you, jealousy is a mug as my son would say. That’s what it all boils down too. What the h___ is this–give it up already. They better get ready for an additional 4 yrs of this…We need this President!!!! I guess no other Presidents wife and family look as good as ours with their summer attire on….

I’m not surprised at all. I seem to remember Nancy Reagan spending our tax dollars on 24kt gold plated dinnerware and even more on other frivolous things. It was considered “tasteful” and “elegant” and no one uttered a word, but Miss Michelle, who wears reasonably priced clothing and utilizes new designers on her formal wear is constantly put in check about her spending. No need to get angry. We all know what this is about. It’s race-baiting, nothing more.

WASHINGTON: The US Air Force is being sued by a conservative legal group for access to Michelle Obama’s travel records from a 2010 vacation to Spain.
Judicial Watch filed the suit on Tuesday in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia for access to all records pertaining to an August 2010 vacation taken by the first lady and her daughters, including cost estimates and passenger manifests.
This ISN’T some unfortunate single mother spending precious time with her 2 daughters, she took a PLANE LOAD of friends to PARTY IN SPAIN! (I can’t even afford to go to a Spanish restaurant with gas prices THIS HIGH!)
GIRLS’ TRIP TO SPAIN: AUGUST 2010
The exact cost is unclear as Mrs Obama and her 40 friends footed many personal expenses, such as hotels and meals themselves.
But the U.S. taxpayer would have paid for the First Lady’s *68-strong security detail, personal staff, and use of presidential jet Air Force Two.
*Per diems for the secret service team runs at around $281 each – nearly $98,000 for the length of the summer break.
*Use of Air Force Two, the Air Force version of a 757, comes in at $149,900 for the round trip. This does not include time on the ground.
*Mrs Obama’s personal staff, of which there are an unknown amount and might cost considerably more per day, should also be taken into account.

*$63,000 on an early flight bringing Mrs Obama and the children to Hawaii ahead of the President.

*$16,000 to rent nearby homes for Secret Service and Navy Seals.
*$134,000 for 24 White House staff to stay at the Moana Hotel.

*$10,000 for an ambulance to be on hand at all times

Mrs Obama and her daughters stayed at the Sebastian hotel on Vail Mountain, where rooms cost more than $2,400 for multi-bedroom suites.
The family appear to have flown there on Air Force Two.
They were escorted to the resort by a motorcade of about a dozen vehicles, including 15 state and local law enforcement officers
SUMMER HOLIDAY ON MARTHA’S VINEYARD: AUGUST 2011
The Blue Heron Farm estate, where the Obama family stayed, rents for about $50,000 a week.
According to U.S. News and World Report, the Coast Guard is required to keep ships floating near the property, the presidential helicopter and jet remain at the ready and security agents will be on 24-hour duty.

I would lke to sue congress in orderr to get their salaries cut 75%. I don’t think the hookers would like it, but I am sure the working people would.
No matter where they go, how they go-its gonna cost simply because they are the 1st family. They have to have security, they can’t fly on economy without security having to take up all the additional seats. They deserve privacy. The President deserves a rest like everyone else. The 1st lady works for free. The children are on show no matter where they go. They all deserve a break.

I as a taxpayer I would love to see the First lady tour the US, visiting poor areas of our nation and reaffirming the goal of improving our nation. When the pres talks about how things are going to be hard and there is no easy fix to our struggling economy, I am shocked at their spending. I believe the presidential salary is 400k with 100k nontaxable travel, the numbers dont add up. vacation at home and uplift local communities where he has his support. this isnt about black and white is about taxpayer green

President Obama and his family deserve to take vacations. They should be able to vacation where they want. If they were not in the White House, they would take vacations. Would the vacations include 40 of their friends and family is questionnable?
I think that it is appaulling for the first family to take these types of vacations if it is true that they took family and friends on vacation with them. They should explain how these trips are paid for. There are “hard” working people in this country who are unable to take a vacation at all because of their economics and the first family is flying around having an extravagant time. Who is paying for their extrvagance? I hope not the taxpayers. There is money set aside the the president and his family for vacation purposes and hopefully, the Obamas have not overspent. The Obamas are doing a great job, but so are others who cannot afford to travel, but have to pay taxes. These people do not want their tax dollars spend at the pleasure of the Obamas. These people complain about their tax dollars being spent on welfare programs which assist needy people, so I am sure that they do not want the Obamas or any other wealthy people using their tax dollars to have orgies with their tax dollars.
@Chris Cargill- Yes a national tour of poverty in the US would be good for the first family……let’s see, they can visit Kentucky, West Virginia, Appalacia – up and down the coast, eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania……hmmm, lot of good places!!
