The family of former football player Dave Duerson today launched a wrongful death suit against the NFL.

They claim the league did not do enough to prevent or treat the concussions that severely damaged the Chicago Bears star’s brain before he killed himself last year.

The suit was filed in Chicago on behalf of Mr Duerson’s son, Tregg, and three other children.

Mr Duerson died on February 17, 2011, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest at his home in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.

His family wants to know more about the NFL’s handling of concussions during his career.
