The men of BET’s The Game said it was their mission to beat last year’s premiere on their new network; unfortunately, they didn’t even come close.
After being dumped by the CW, BET jumped on the opportunity to run with the dramedy that fans worked so diligently to bring back on the air.
Last year, over 7.7 million viewers tuned in to catch up with Derwin and Melanie, Tasha and Malik, Jason and the woman of the moment — who this season, happens to R&B singer, Brandy playing the role of Chardonnay. The jaw-dropping feat placed the game in TV history as the top-rated ad-supported sitcom broadcast in cable history.
This year, only 5.3 million viewers tuned in to catch up with the San Diego Sabers and the Sunbeams, but that’s sure to change once viewers realize that the show has returned to it’s comedic, light-hearted roots that made it such a hit in the first place.
The Game airs Tuesdays on BET at 10:00 p.m. EST
