Black Like Moi reports:

Stop the presses! Rick Santorum doesn’t have a problem with black people!

He just thinks we’re stupid.

In an interview with FOX News franchise player, Bill O’Reilly, the GOP presidential candidate contends that he didn’t say “black” people when discussing entitlement programs, he said “blah” people:

“I can tell you, I don’t use — I don’t — first off, I don’t use the term ‘black’ very often. I use the term ‘African-American’ more than I use ‘black,” Santorum said. “I can tell you as someone who did more work for historically black colleges, I used to have — every year, I used to bring all the historically black colleges into Washington, DC to try to help them, because they get very little federal money through the bureaucracy, and so I help to try to introduce them to people in the Department of Education so they could have more resources.

“I looked at that, and I didn’t say that,’ Santorum told O’Reilly. ‘If you look at it, what I started to say is a word and then sort of changed and it sort of — blah — came out. And people said I said ‘black.’ I didn’t.”

The original comment that Santorum is defending was delivered with his usual arrogance to a predominantly white audience in Sioux Falls during a campaign stop:

“It just keeps expanding – I was in Indianola a few months ago and I was talking to someone who works in the department of public welfare here, and she told me that the state of Iowa is going to get fined if they don’t sign up more people under the Medicaid program,” Santorum said. “They’re just pushing harder and harder to get more and more of you dependent upon them so they can get your vote. That’s what the bottom line is.

“I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money.”

“Right,” responded one audience member, as another woman can be seen nodding.

“And provide for themselves and their families,” Santorum added, to applause. “The best way to do that is to get the manufacturing sector of the economy rolling again.”
