Video: “No More Relaxers”

Post By RelatedRelated Post

The other day, I logged into my YouTube account and noticed a video on my homepage entitled, “No More Relaxers”. It was posted by an African American man; username, Kaizen9. I clicked on it to satisfy my curiosity. The video was a slideshow of pictures and footage of dozens of women with beautiful natural hair. There were women with locs, ‘fros and twists. I must admit, I was messmerized by the beauty that was displayed and I was pleasantly suprised to see that I was included in the slideshow. At the end of the video, a message appeared. It read:

Dedicated To My
Beautiful Daughter Imani.
I Love You
My Love.
Dad

He also included a picure of his daughter. It is so beautiful that a father would make this video for his daughter in support of her embracing her natural hair. It really warmed my heart. Enjoy!

  1. LOVE THIS VIDEO!! BEEN NATURAL FOR 13 YEARS!!

  2. I will have to check him out and give props for instiling love and self-acceptance in his daughter. She will love him forever. More parents should be like him. More Black media too who prop up wigs and weaves, , as acceptable forms of beauty.

  3. Jamal sounds like a modern day slave/house negro. I think the natural hair styles are beautiful.

  4. Love the video and the song choice, been natural over 10 years and am now really embracing it and learning how to care for my hair.
