School Band Played ‘Dixie’ at a Site Where Three Black Men were Lynched in 1906

There’s nothing like playing the song “Dixie” to remind us of a time when lynching black people was a source of entertainment.  The president of Missouri State University has apologized for playing the song at a site where three black men were lynched in 1906.   Interim President Clif Smart says that the song was an “unfortunate selection” and that it won’t be played again in public by the band.
