The grandson of Nelson Mandela is planning to marry a third wife Saturday in spite of a court ban on his pending marriage.
Chief Mandla Mandela’s is planning to marry Princess Mbali Makhathini at the Mvezo Royal Palace in rural Eastern Cape province, according to family spokesperson Sidima Mnqanqeni.“We are confident that there will be no disturbance and the marriage is on,” said Mnqanqeni.
In addition to being the grandson of Nelson Mandela, Mandla is also a member of parliament. He is the head of the Mandela family clan. A court ruled in favor of his first and only legal wife, banning him from marrying another woman for the second time in just seven months. Tando Mabunu-Mandela claimed that her civil law union with Mandla keeps from being legally allowed to marry other women.
