Your Black World reports:
Al-Saadi Gadhafi, son of assassinated Libyan ruler, Moammar Gadhafi, was captured trying to make a run for the border, according to Mexican officials.
He was assisted by a shadowy crew of international characters, including two Mexicans, one Canadian and one Danish suspect. Interior Secretary Alejandro Poire said the four suspects had been detained. The three relatives who were also a part of the plot have not been named.
Al-Saadi wasa captured in Niger, a Western African country that he had been hiding in while evading law enforcement. His co-conspirators had flown ahead to Mexico to open bank accounts and secure property around the country — including one on Mexico’s Pacific, according to the Associated Press.
“The large economic resources which this criminal organization has, or had, allowed them to contract private flights,” Poire told a news conference.
The leader of the plot, identified as Canadian, Cynthia Vanier, was detained Nov. 10.
All suspects are on house arrest for “suspicion of using false documents, human smuggling and organized crime.”
