Model Chanel Iman unveiled what has been dubbed the world’s first million-dollar fragrance bottle in New York on December 5.
The 21-year-old, best known for her work with lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret, is spokesmodel for DKNY perfume and was accompanied by bodyguards to present a specially designed version of the latest fragrance Golden Delicious at DKNY’s New York flagship store.
Inspired by the New York skyline and designed by jeweler Martin Katz, the bottle is adorned with 2,909 rare jewels from across the globe, including 2,700 white diamonds, 183 yellow sapphires and a 2.43-carat yellow canary diamond. It will be available for auction at the DKNY Core Club Facebook page. All proceeds from the sale go to international humanitarian organization Action Against Hunger.
Meanwhile, regular editions of Golden Delicious can currently be purchased at DKNY outlets across the globe. The scent features notes of orange flower water, golden delicious apples, white rose, vanilla orchid, sandalwood and musk.
Another luxurious fragrance bottle released this year came from footwear brand Jimmy Choo’s venture into the perfume world. An eponymous limited edition scent just for the holiday season went on sale in October, featuring a metallized Venetian glass bottle presented in a snakeskin print jewelry box. Fans of extravagant perfume packaging should also look out for crystal glassware brand Baccarat’s crystal-encrusted perfume bottles.
