Bishop Eddie Long and Republican Presidential Candidate Herman Cain were once considered to be pillars of their community. Long was the lead pastor at one of the largest churches in the south(the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, where he remarkably maintained power), and Cain was on his way to becoming the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for President of the United States.

  1. You are oh so right. We need an open dialogue. Think about the weekend of February 11, 2012, either in Los Angeles or Atlanta to take a look. we have not met since Gary, IN, in 1972 with the Black Political Convention. Again, we need to talk about our cultural journey. It is not about others, it is about those who identify with Blackness.

    • Why identify with just blackness in a multicultural world?

      • Because the concept of multiculturalism in a farce when it comes to economic and political power.

  2. Bad grammar in the first sentence of this article.

  3. Both men have a chance to repent and God is forgiving!

  4. God has nothing to do with this. I thought Herman was a good guy, but with all these women coming out . 2 or 3 maybe liars. but this Atlanta woman . Hermain has issues. He should have known ,if you have skelitons ,it will come out. He has to make good with his wife, damn the elections.
Herman take care home first, forget the elections.

    • Anybody’s that think this is okay and God will forgive you must be a sinner. Bother of the men have lived an sinful life as power black men. T his is wrong and true believes. What happen in the dark alaways comes to the light. A born Psychic and Prophetess.

  5. In the final analysis its not complicate, you cannot do wrong and have a reasonable expectation right will come from it. In both scenarios these individuals forgot the principles of the American society when its comes to being a Black Man. We must always stay on message when you are in the public eyes or become victim to the media in this country and be tried in the court of public opinion.

Which will minimize your message and your following because once the media is involved its all about the media’s perception. Which is not control be people of Color. This is not to excuse the guilty just the continuous perpetuation of stereotyping the Black image in American. Especially towards those who have an unfavorable opinion in the first place. Only those of us willing to make the sacrifice towards a society free of all forms of discrimination and creating a society where we all truly have an equal opportunity will make a difference.

  6. Looking from afar, it appears power turned into an obsession for Homosexual acts. And in Herman Cain’s case a deep desire for white women. I couldn’t imagine Cain trying to court white women in Atlanta- forty five years ago.

  7. No ‘victims’ here, just men who did wrong and it came back to haunt them (it ain’t just Black men *eyes Sandusky and Fine*). As so-called Christians they should know better than anyone you reap what you sow and boy, what a rotten garden they reside in full of lies, deception and hiding behind religion the greatest deception of all…

  8. I’m sorry but can someone get these jigaboos ouuta my face!!!

  9. Christians, we are the only one who shoot their own wounded. King David of Israel whoremonger great king. Absolute power corrupts! what a surprise! President Bill Clinton not Black left great economy. F.B.I has files on Dr. M.L.K. jr. { Loved the ladies} …. He who is without sinn. Gee whiz my people grow up.

  10. When was Herman Cain ever considered the pillar of a community? Which community? I’d never heard of him until he decided to run for the Presidency which he did-with Koch Bros back funding. Eddie Long, however, is no different than Ted Haggard. You have men in the pews preaching one thing to their congregation while living a life different than what they preached.

How these type ministers manage to pull this off in their heads takes some compartmentalizing for sure.

  11. When you wear you religion on your sleeves, the devil will come by and knock it off, and knock you down, if you have any shortcomings. Bishop Long, he is either, gay, bisexual, or straight. His wife has to figure that one out. Herman Cain, is a control freak, a ladies man, and successful businessman. Just because you proclaim to others you are a certain way, does not mean you are what you advertise. Their shame has to be born by black men, and more importantly men of the cloth. It seems that anytime you hear about men of the cloth lately, it is because they don’t have their sexual spirits under control.

  12. Remember ” . . .the devil made me do it.” Poor ole devil gets the blame everytime.

  13. I, for one, want to see our black men do well in this country where it is hard to get respect we are do. But when you here about our leaders, celebretties, etc. getting into trouble and it’s all over the tv it kind of hurt.

  14. “Beware of wolves in sheep clothing”. All pastor’s are not hidden deviants. Nor are all Blackmen chasing after these white women. People of African descent “Please” remember the white so called rule will always make stories that benefit them. I to fell for the white lies. I to dated nothing but white men. I never idolized the white woman nor did I want to be like her. We are humans and to be human we all make mistakes big and small. We cannot judge anyone only God can. However, we can constructivly speak to someone who is doing wrong. If a man or woman is in high authority you cannot” treat them like they are a God in your life. They are human just like you. All I can say if you believe that all men and women are good and cannot do wrong you are definitely in a unrealistic world. If you believe that all Black men or Black women want white men and women you have been brainwashed. God did not put Black people on this earth to be wiped out by the white man or woman. The African race came from kings and queens, enslaved, burned, maimed, beaten, raped, killed and guess what we are still here, and the white race is still wondering why”. The Bishop made is mess and now he has to clean the mess up. Cain played into the old adage’ of the forbidden fruit. He too will have to clean up his mess. Oh by the way the white woman may have played around with him for what she claims 13 year’s, however he did not leave his wife he’s been with her for 43. It does not matter if she is light she still is a black woman who he did not leave.

  15. AL SHARPTON’S MESSAGE TO HERMAN CAIN.

The greeting on your web site says, “we are looking forward to hearing
    > from you”, but I’m not sure you will be looking forward to hearing from
    > me, Mr. Cain.
    >
    > I saw on the Internet that you called the President a liar. I deplore
    > what you are doing and the things you are saying about the President in
    > order to gain favor with these greedy, thieving, selfish, Republicans.
    > How dare you call President Obama a liar. You are a pathetic, obviously
    > brainwashed black man who has lost his way and his mind. You have had
    > opportunity and a smattering of privilege in America that has made you
    > forget your roots. I despise people like you and Clarence Thomas, and
    > you both have Georgia roots.
    >
    > What is it with you black men from the south who grow up in an
    > oppressed environment and end up siding with the oppressor? The recent
    > case of Troy Davis in Georgia is an excellent example of the present
    > day oppression and legal lynching that still takes place in that state
    > and in this country. The political party that you praise so highly is
    > presently enacting laws to suppress the black vote, the student vote,
    > and many elderly voters across this entire country. Yet, you choose to
    > stand with people who display such obscene and un-American behavior.
    > You would throw black people (including the President of the U.S. ) and
    > others under the bus to curry favor with these non-caring and
    > hedonistic people.
    >
    > You were there when your Republican cohorts cheered about the death
    > penalty which disproportionately affects black men and women in this
    > country – some of whom have been proven to be innocent. You should be
    > ashamed to stand with these people and yet, you appear to be proud of
    > such an association.
    >
    > Yes, President Obama does believe in fairness and sharing the
    > responsibility of the tax burden, it is not socialism nor is it class
    > warfare, and he is not a liar for saying it. That kind of rhetoric from
    > you and those with whom you identify is nothing more than a weak
    > defense for the greedy and despicable philosophy that you choose to
    > embrace.
    >
    > You had the unmitigated gall to tell Wolf Blitzer on CNN that two
    > thirds of African-American people are brainwashed and incapable of
    > thinking for themselves. You are surely touched in the head. The
    > millions of us who are capable of thinking for ourselves – we know who
    > is really brainwashed – you – brainwashed whiter than snow.
    >
    > Do you really think those people with whom you stand on the debating
    > platform really respect you and see you as their equal? They as well as
    > others see you as a joke and a person who is engaging in buffoonery. A
    > Republican majority House and Senate would never pass your “so called”
    > 999 plan. They would never deem it in their best interest. Besides,
    > there are many who believe your plan is a coded message from Satan. If
    > you flip the numbers they become the 666 plan.
    >
    > You will never be President of this country, and I thank God for that.
    > I must say, you certainly live up to your last name. Just as Cain in
    > the Bible so blatantly slew his brother, you are equally willing to do
    > the same politically and economically to millions of black and middle
    > class citizens of this country. Such behavior is extremely ugly, and
    > need I remind you, Mr. Cain, that God does not like ugly.
    >
    > P. S. If it wasn’t for the fact that I’m having a nice day, I would tell
    > you what I really think about you.
    >
    > IF YOU ARE TIRED OF WHITE AND BLACK REPUBLICANS CALLING PRESIDENT OBAMA
    > A LIAR – PLEASE FORWARD THIS SO OTHERS MAY KNOW THE TRUTH

  16. All I can think is poor Gloria…she really believed everything that Cain told her. SMH.
