College Sorority Depicts The Huxtables By Dressing In Blackface

A sorority at the University of Southern Mississippi decided that it might be fun to depict “The Cosby Show” by putting students in blackface. The off campus party was meant to be good old fashioned fun, likely inspired by students whose professors have never educated them on the fact that their actions are horribly offensive to millions of people.
“Sponsor a campus-wide program on diversity appreciation”??? In the real world these ignorant racist white kids would have gotten their asses whipped. IMO that is the only way this racist nonsense is going to stop. Some people will say violence never solved anything. But the thought of feeling severe pain as a result of disrespecting someone is a start. They wont feel it’s so funny when they get their butts kicked or worst.
After many years have passed, there are still ignorant and narrowed minded people, concerning the race of African Americans. If you was not born black, one does not know what a black person or people must endure to just live and have life, in this day and time. Violence is not the answer, we must educate those who lack knowledge and understanding, of who we are as a beautiful and strong race of people.
Let me say this in all truth and not as a put down, the white race of people could not withstand or endure and overcome what the black race of people went through back in the day and even now.
God equipped the black race of people with love, courage, strength, patience, forgiveness and endurance to overcome every adversity, we faced back in the day and in this time and day.
This is where knowledge, understanding and the wisdom of God preserve and keeps the black race, we love not hate, forgive not hold grudges nor walk in strife, accept all people not disrespect, proud but not prideful not puffed up thinking that we are better than other races, but equal and qualified to receive respect and dignity. Just remember God has our back, and have always been there for us, he has not forgotten us nor has he left us, he is in the middle of our troubles and the praise and glory belongs to him. Let your hearts not be troubled, but walk in love and keep your dignity intact. God Got It!

Ignorance is all arond us. Therefore, we must prepare the next gereration for this world . Dr. Mays said it better then I have ever herad what we should do. In the September issue of 2004 Ebony Magazine, in Lerone Bennett’s artical “The Last Of the Great Educators”. Dr. Mays said a lot but this is what stuck with me. “If you are ignorant the world will cheate you, if you are weak the world will kick you and if you are a coward the world will keep you running.” Let us educate our chidren.

@Tracy Richards. I agree with that statement 100%. This is the reason why so many white europeans immigrated to American. They didn’t have the strength or courage to fight for freedom where they came from. Whites wanted to come to American to be given these rights and freedom as soon as the stepped off the boat. Of course their twisted history which is nothing more than a lie is white immigrants were courageous in coming to America. They would have never survived in this country if they had to provide free labor for 100s of years the and not have the right to vote the way black people did.
The more things change the more they stay they same. 2008 we American elected our first African American President, and the wonderful state of Mississippi, thought it would be funny to dressy up as The Huckably’s family, and Ann Coulter’s think her black (Herman Cain) is better than the Liberals, black, our President . Herman Cain, does not know he is owned by Ann Coulter’s and Russ Limmy, and here I was thinking we were all equal per the constitution. Well so much for being free again. These awesome White people need to be taught a good lesson, and I do not mean some kind of useless training, I mean WATER BOARDING, since all of the Presidential candiates think it is useful and not breaking any laws, let’s go for it.
As a young black woman I find it racist for you the be offended by this. These white women found the Huxtables as a inspiration. Just because they are white they cannot dress like them? Could I not be lady gaga for halloween?
I absolutely agree with you. Intentions should play into how people react. If they loved The Cosby Show and found the characters inspiring, more power to them. If they were intentionally being offensive, then people can get in an uproar.
