45 Percent of Homeless Vets Are African Americans

Post By RelatedRelated Post

A shocking 45 percent of the nation’s estimated 131,000 homeless veterans are African-American, according to a new report by the National Alliance to End Homelessness, a well-known advocacy and research organization.

And, just as shocking, according to the alliance, is the reality that a staggering 42 percent of the the nation’s total homeless population is African-American.

The report was issued on the heels on a pledge made by President Barack Obama to end homelessness among veterans within five years.

  1. “You’re afraid to bleed. Long as the white man send you to Korea, you bled. He sent you to Germany, you bled. He sent you to the South Pacific to fight the Japanese, you bled. You bleed for WHITE PEOPLE. But when it comes time to seeing your Black churches being bombed and little Black girls murdered, you haven’t got no blood.”
    — The Original GRAND MASTER SEN$Ei Malcolm X – Nov. 9, 1963.

  2. That's a strong possibility. Because when I was a homeless veteran, the majority of the homeless veterans were not only African Americans, but, males as well. Most of them had service connected disabilities, which meant that they qualified for vocational/educational training, housing, medical care, compensation and/or pensions. But, after being diagnosed while in the military, the army had either misinformed them about their qualifications or did not tell them anything at all about the possibility of what their disabilities could incur as far as benefits are concern. And those veterans could have been off the streets much sooner and receive medical care that they needed and deserve! I was unaware of my qualification for benefits for over 27 years! And I recently found out that the fort where I took basic training, Ft. McClellan, AL, was contaminated with toxic PCB between 1933 and 1999. Which, I was there for basic training in 1978.

  3. We got to do better , nd it's been going on a long time sister.

  4. To do this , a place must be made to rebuild their foundation.Who has land, we can make fields, homes, goods, sustainability, growth.

  6. We all shouldn’t be surprised this country has show us blacks how they feel about us for hundreds of years now. To each its own but I never understood how a black man or women can sacrifice their lives for a country that doesn’t see or treat them as equal and still doesn’t to this day!!

  7. This not right!

  8. god bless you, joan

  9. If you file on your own personal, you risk deficiencies in knowledge and perhaps the actual filing
service fees in case you are not effectively well prepared whenever you start the
task. Patent 6910205 covers the process invented to speed up
the interpreter. It should also have an industrial application and contain an inventive step that is ‘non-obvious’.

  10. You will be given an EXPLICIT example that anyone can relate to in
order to determine if you want to pursue the path of getting your own patent.

Clients mostly persuade their patent attorney to sign a non disclosure agreement.
A truly good patent attorney will not only provide you
with this information but help you understand
why your item is too similar to one that is in existence.

  11. Hey there! Quick question that’s completely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when browsing from my iphone. I’m trying to find
a template or plugin that might be able to fix this problem.
If you have any suggestions, please share. Cheers!

  13. We know the problem now what we need is a simple solution to help them all. The one thing that that has helped them are the hand outs that some people have given these vets. Did you know that we have a simple $10 program that anyone can join and in 3 to 4 months after having 4 people that teach 4 others to do the same can generate several hundred thousand dollars? Email me and I will share this simple concept with you. robertrca3 @gmail . com – people helping people is the name of the game and that is what we do.

  14. Thank you, Terrell! And God bless you too!

  16. family is so caught up with trying to survive in wicked country they tend to look down on us, family will hurt you most the ones closes one to your heart hurts you the most, they are too busy trying to survive, they have no time for vets ecspecially those who are not trying to live righteous basically we struggle to re-enter a society, that would rather we just die off, that is also one of the reasons , they keep us waiting for our benefits, hurry up and wait!

  17. there is always a struggle to re-enter a society that does not want us, housing? com on who does that? only amerikkka

  18. Even though you served the country….

  19. Hey! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering if you knew
where I could get a captcha plugin for my
comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having trouble finding one?
    Thanks a lot!

  20. SADLY, i see MANY homeless VETERANS of ALL RACES daily at my emplyment. And they are HOMELESS and JOBLESS because of NO FAULT of their own. I say that because I am employed by the FED GOVT, and at least 75% of the employees are NOT VETERANS; or have NO CONNECTION with the veteran population. HOWEVER, WHEN and IF a veteran is hired he is automatically offered a job usually in HOUSE KEEPING or the WAREHOUSE. Your EDUCATION or MILITARY EXPERIENCE is really a NON-FACTOR; you ARE OFTEN OVER LOOK’d for PROMOTIONS. HOWEVER, the veteran EMPLOYEE IS THE MOST HARD WORKING and DEPENDABLE; but the LEAST HIRED or PAID!

  21. So sad
